How to buy glass perfume bottles from India

Specify four things: the bottle (by reference code, drawing or sample), its neck finish, the pump or cap that goes on it, and your quantity and destination port. With those, an exporter in Mumbai can quote FOB or CIF pricing, the minimum order quantity and the lead time — Letap usually replies within two working days.

What the Letap perfume range covers

55 perfume bottle references are published in the perfume bottles catalogue, from 8.5 ml to 100 ml nominal capacity: 54 in soda-lime glass (flint) and 1 in borosilicate / soda-lime glass.

Nominal sizes in the range: 8.5 ml, 10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml, 30 ml, 40 ml, 50 ml, 60 ml, 70 ml, 90 ml and 100 ml.

Shapes, coatings and printed finishes are developed per programme rather than picked off a fixed list, so a bottle outside the range can be quoted from a drawing or a sample.

Nominal capacity and brimful capacity

Each bottle in the catalogue lists two volumes — for example “100 ml (brimful 108 ml)”. The nominal figure is the fill the bottle is sold as. Brimful is what it holds filled to the very top of the neck.

The difference is headspace: room for the pump's dip tube and for the liquid to expand as temperatures change in transit. Set your fill line against the nominal figure; quote the brimful figure to anyone who needs the overflow capacity, such as a filling-machine supplier.

The neck finish decides the pump

FEA 15 and FEA 20 are crimp finishes — 15 mm and 20 mm necks onto which a spray pump is pressed and crimped at filling, and which is not meant to come off. They are the usual finishes for fine-fragrance sprays. GPI finishes are threaded, for screw-on pumps and caps.

The catalogue gives the bore in brackets after each finish, as in “FEA 15 (12 mm bore)”. The bore is the inside diameter of the neck, and it decides whether a dip tube and pump body fit. Quote the finish and the bore to a pump supplier, not the bottle's volume. What a neck finish is, and how to match a closure to one.

Pumps, caps and finishes

Caps, pumps and closures are matched to the bottle's neck finish and checked against it before the order ships, so the glass and the closure arrive as a working pair. See caps and closures and sprays and mists.

Glass is supplied in flint (clear), amber or custom tints, with frosted, coated and printed finishes made to your specification.

What to send for a quote

  • The reference code from the product page or the printed catalogue — or, for a shape outside the range, a drawing or a sample.
  • The pump or cap you want on it, or ask for one to be matched to the neck finish.
  • Decoration: frosted, coated, printed or plain.
  • Quantity, destination port, and whether you want FOB or CIF.

The reply gives FOB or CIF pricing, the minimum order quantity and the lead time, usually within two working days. Minimum order quantities are quoted per order rather than published.

Inspection, shipping and documents

Every consignment is inspected at the factory against the specification you approved. Packaging lines get dimensional, drop and leak testing, and material certificates are supplied on request.

Letap International exports to the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, West Africa, East Africa and the Middle East, loading from any major Indian port on FOB or CIF terms, and issues the invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and inspection paperwork itself.
